The Blocks Abstract Rug by Catherine Lansfield takes a simple concept and gives it genuine tactile quality. Rectangular blocks are filled with directional stripes, arranged in a graphic alternating pattern across the surface.

What separates the Blocks from a printed design is the hand carved pile: the pattern is cut into the polypropylene construction rather than printed onto it, creating a surface that has shadow and dimension you can actually feel underfoot. The design is bold from across the room and reveals its three-dimensional quality up close.
